Attention Homestucks
I’m an employee with WP and I’m letting you guys know, there are currently NO independent legal homestuck merch makers. The only legal place to purchase anything homestuck related currently is whatpumpkin.com and topatoco.com. [Edit:the only person to have received permission in recent history is Lambency for temporary commissions.]
We’re working constantly to improve our available goods, but it’s really hard to make much headway on that kind of stuff though when we have to spend so much time in little legal hassles like this. I spend a decent portion of my work-day settling legal issues like this and hunting down infringements, when I would really rather spend that time pushing forward projects involving good fans! Our current effort involves trying to find a way to build legal merchandising relationships with fans who produce the highest-quality 3d and cosplay crafts. A time may come soon when, in addition to taking 2d artist recommendations from you guys, I’ll have the honor of asking for quality 3d craftspeople recs too!
If you know people who are selling goods illegally, please discourage them from doing so and report them to us (again, tera@whatpumpkin.com) rather than taking that as an indication that it’s ok to sell! If you do decide to personally approach illegal vendors, please approach them tastefully, it’s bad to represent the fandom through anonymous hate! Have the bravery to put your name to your words, or just quietly report the infringement to us and we can take care of it! We’re reasonable and polite people, and we work extra hard to make sure each interaction is as pleasant and courteous as possible!
We just want to do our jobs and provide the best possible merch for our fans at the best possible price. Help us do our jobs and make the Homestuck fandom the best it can be! Help us equip cosplayers with professional-grade props, and help us provide every-day fans with cute and cool merch to show their passion for homestuck!
